BRI manufactures cabinets and canopies for glass and acrylic aquariums. In general glass and acrylic fish tanks have different dimensions. The plastic banding on glass aquariums make them larger. Unless you indicate otherwise, the aquarium cabinet and canopy is manufactured for a banded glass aquarium. If you are ordering for a bandless glass fish tank, acrylic, or one of the “flush” banded glass tanks, please indicate exact length and width. If you put an acrylic aquarium into a cabinet made for glass, you are going to have a sloppy and loose fit. Banded glass tanks will not fit a cabinet made for acrylic. It is very difficult [in some situations impossible] to correct this once the cabinet and or canopy is built.

Cabinets built for the following acrylic and custom hand made glass aquariums will require a template of the top and bottom of the tank: Hexagon, Flat Back Hex, Bow Front and any other aquarium shape not rectangular or square. In our experience some acrylic manufacturers do not produce square aquariums and will additionally have bowed sides as well. On large acrylic aquariums this is more likely to occur. If you have any doubts or concerns, please take the time to produce an accurate template. It will save a lot of time, money and grief. Always keep in mind that the more difficult it is to make a acrylic aquarium the more likely you will need a template. The template needs to be made with paper, traced with a fine tip pencil or pen. Do not cut the template out. We need to see the outline of the aquarium so we can get as close a fit as possible on the cabinet and canopy. No cardboard templates please!
